Description
Outdoor Emergency Response & Trauma Care
Adventure Ready is a hands-on emergency medical training course designed for outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, and anyone who spends time away from immediate medical care. This course focuses on practical skills needed to recognize, manage, and respond to common injuries and medical emergencies that occur during outdoor recreation and remote activities.
Participants will learn how to assess an injured person, make critical decisions, provide immediate care, and stabilize them until professional help arrives. Training emphasizes real-world scenarios found in Central Oregon, including mountain biking crashes, hiking injuries, climbing accidents, hunting incidents, and ranch or farm-related emergencies.
Topics include:
- Scene safety and emergency decision-making
- Patient assessment and prioritization
- Severe bleeding control and hemorrhage management
- Wound care and injury prevention
- Falls, fractures, sprains, and basic stabilization
- Head, neck, and spine injury considerations
- Heat illness, cold exposure, and environmental emergencies
- Allergic reactions and common medical emergencies
- Improvised splinting and patient movement
- Building an outdoor first aid kit
- Communication, emergency planning, and evacuation considerations
Adventure Ready is not a replacement for professional medical care — it is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to act during the critical minutes before help arrives.
